HW for 4/23: Recent Decisions

Pick one case from the 2005, 2006, or 2007 (current) terms of the Supreme Court that interests you, and write a short summary of the case.  (If you pick a case from the current term, make sure you choose one that has already been decided.) In doing this we will expand on the "make our own encyclopedia" concept we've employed earlier this year with civil liberties news items and last week with justice biographies.

Post your work in its own blog entry, not as a comment responding to this post.  The title of your post should include both the name of the case and the area of constitutional law in which it is relevant (e.g., "Baze v Rees (Capital Punishment)").  In the post, write a short summary of the facts of the case, and a short summary of the decision.  Include the vote count, who wrote the opinions of the Court, and indicate who were the dissenters (if any) -- e.g., "The vote was 7-2, with Justices Souter and Ginsburg dissenting.  Justice Kennedy wrote the opinion of the court."  If you like, you can also include information about other opinions.
